Johnny Gray

Mr. Grey has been part of NLA-Dallas and NLA-International since the beginning.  He served as Member at Large on International’s first Executive Committee.  He wrote the newsletter for the Dallas chapter for a little over a year and hosted meeting at his home until the group started meeting at the resource center.  For many years Mr. Grey was the NLA-Dallas’ Treasurer and passed the hat on when he stepped down at the end of his term this year.

Mr. Grey founded Shades of Grey Leather almost 30 years ago and had the business until it was sold in 2006.  Through the store he supported the leather community in many ways.

Mr. Grey with community support created the regional contest – Mr. Gulf Coast Drummer, a regional contest for International Mr. Drummer.  The Drummer contest has evolved into the Leather Sir/boy contest.  Mr. Grey produced Mr. Gulf Coast Drummer for nine years.

Leather Legacy Panel

To understand where we are going as a community, it is valuable to know where we come from.  How has Leather come to be what it is today?  Where did our traditions come from? What battles have been fought and won in our lifetimes?  What's history and what's myth in the Leather community?  What are the most important lessons we can learn from the past? Join three veterans of a thousand Leather campaigns in a look at our history.  Understand the very foundation upon which we've build a world that people would never have dreamed of -- from some of the men who did, and made it happen.
